Journalism workshop

The two-day Journalism Enhancement Workshop
for School Paper Advisers and Journalists,
organized by the Cagayan de Oro City Division
of the Department of Education, ends today
at Hotel Koresco.
Participants are winners of the 2014 Division Schools Press Conference
held last month. They will compete in the regional level to be held
on December 1-3 in Camiguin.

DSPC 2014

The two-day 2014 Division Schools Press Conference
opened this morning at the Liceo de Cagayan University.
Campus journalists representing public and private schools,
elementary and secondary, will compete in 10 events (English and Filipino),
namely Photojournalism, Editorial Cartooning, Sports Writing,
Editorial Writing, News Writing, Feature Writing,
Copyreading & Headline Writing, Science & Health Writing,
Script Writing & Radio Broadcasting, and Collaborative Writing.
The theme is "Empowering Resilient Communities Through Campus Journalism".

Dads hail XU grad for making it to top
5 post in Electrical Engineering Exams

THROUGH Resolution No. 11762-2014,  the 17th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Caesar Ian E. Acenas during the regular session Monday presided over by Councilor Ramon Tabor congratulated and commended Gratz Dale Noel G. Redoble of Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan) for giving honor to the city by ranking 5th in the recent Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination given last September 6 and 7, 2014.
Councilor Dante Pajo, proponent of the resolution, said Redoble garnered a score of 89.90% during the said examinations.
In a separate resolution, legislators congratulated Xavier University for producing one of the top ten successful board passers.
Other top board passers are:  Victor Al Sapoten Medina of Saint Louis University (91.85); Kenneth Rivera Lazo of De La Salle University-Dasmarinas (90.95%); Peter Filemon Ramos Fabricante of the University of the Philippines-Diliman ( 90.45%); Kevin Yuson Briton of Bicol University-Legazpi (90.15%); Ryan Diones of Camarines Norte State College-Daet (90.15%); Emmanuel Comision Decena of  Cebu Institute of Technology (89.55%); John Anthony PeƱalba Dy of Bicol University-Legazpi (89.40%); Jefferson Joseph Perez Avanzado of  Mapua Institute of Technology-Manila  (89.30%); Isser Algopera Kadusale of Silliman University (89.15%); Prince Rainier Alivio Yamyamin of University of Mindanao-Davao City (89.15%) and Jared Salinas Cuchapin of Central Mindanao University (89.10%).
