Today marks the 24th year anniversary
of the Mindanao Gold Star Daily,
the oldest running daily newspaper
published in Cagayan de Oro.
When I first joined the editorial staff
of this paper in 1990, during my university days,
there were no computers in the office --
we used manual typewriters.
There was no email --
editors, columnists, news writers and photographers
filled the newsroom to beat the deadline.
Our editor in chief used copyediting symbols,
our photographers used black-and-white film,
and our layout person used a typeball electric typewriter.
